A preliminary study of the genus ArgostemmaWall.(Rubiaceae) in Lao PDR

The genus Argostemma Wall. (Rubiaceae) in Lao PDR was firstly reported in Lao PDR in 2007, with one species, A. laeve Benn. Six year later, two species, A. neurocalyx Miq. and A. siamense Puff were also recorded in the country. The preliminary study of the genus is conducted based on the investigation of both herbarium and field collections. Plant specimens have been collected from various parts of Lao PDR and approximately 12 species are enumerated. Six of them are recorded for the first time including three unidentified species. The taxonomic account of the genus is now under revision for the Lao PDR flora.
