Ha Giang is a province in northeast Vietnam. With unique characteristics of topography, geology and climate, it has abundant and diverse natural vegetation, including valuable plants. From 2013-2015, the research team conducted many surveys in 10 districts and one city in the province. As a result, 1565 species of medicinal plants and fungi, belonging to 824 genera, 202 families, five divisions of vascular plants and one division of fungi were recorded. At the same time, four species of medicinal plants were newly recorded in the flora of Vietnam, namely, Paris cronquistii (Takht.) H.Li, Paris xichouensis (H.Li) Y.H.Ji, H.Li & Z.K.Zhou, Lonicera calcarata Hemsl. and Trichosanthes truncata C.B.Clarke. Besides this survey, the forest areas were explored, concentrating on the medicinal plants and recording that Ha Giang province has 97 medicinal plant species subject to national-level conservation. The medicinal plant resources of Ha Giang province are not only diverse in terms of life forms and richness of taxa but also have great value in terms of conservation.
