Pterolobium R.Br. ex Wight & Arn., a genus in tribe Caesalpinieae, Leguminosae–Caesalpinioideae, consists of 11 species and are distributes in dry deciduous forest, limestone hill and along rivers in tropical Asia and Africa. Based on field collections and herbarium specimens, four of them are found in Thailand viz. P. integrum Craib, P. macropterum Kurz, P. micranthum Gagnep. and P. microphyllum Miq. The genus is distinguished from other members of the family by its stem with recurved prickles, bipinnately compound leaves, cucullated sepals and 1-seeded samara. Leaf anatomical studies of P. integrum and P. microphyllum were investigated by peeling and paraffin methods. Amorphous and polyangular epidermal cell shape are presented. The stomata occurred on lower surface only are found anomocytic, paracytic, anisocytic and tetracytic. Furthermore, idioblast presents on spongy mesophyll of both species. Further field and experimental work is required.
