A preliminary taxonomic revision of the species of Musaceae in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam is presented, treating the sole species of the monotypic genus Musella, two species of Ensete, and twelve species and one variety of Musa. Typifications of the endemic species of this region are discussed, and preliminary conservation assessments are provided for all species. A new species, Musa haekkinenii N.S. Lý & Haev., was published in 2012, and Ensete lecongkietii Luu, N.L. Vu & Q.D. Nguyen from Vietnam is placed in synomymy under E. superbum (Roxb.) Cheesman.
